Robert R. Betty (Sr), 75, passed on March 7, 2025 after a brief illness. Born to HC and Shirley Betty, he was a lifelong resident of Mobile. He served two years in the Marines (1968-70), including a tour in the Vietnam War. He earned a National Defense Medal, two Vietnam Service Medals, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Camber Action Ribbon and Letter of Appreciation. After returning, he met and married his wife in 1972. He was an exemplary body repair technician for Hodges Body Shop for 30+ years, he was well known for his work ethic. Upon retirement, he became a full time Paw Paw, which he genuinely enjoyed. He spent his time helping others repair just about anything as he had vast experience and knowledge, always ready to share. If he didn't know how, he knew someone who did. He also enjoyed fishing, feeding the squirrels in the backyard, taking in stray cats, piddling in his shed, and watching the races on Sundays.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, HC (Junior) and Shirley, and his sister, Donna Betty Mizell. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of 52 years, his two children, Alicia Ozment (Dave) and Robert Betty, Jr (Tiffany), his three granddaughters, Hannah and Hayleigh Betty and Ella Ozment, sister, Deborah Betty Thigpen, Brother in Law, Jimmy Arnett (Gail), Aunt, Sandy McNamara (Paul), many loved cousins, nieces, nephew and wonderful lifelong friends, including Amanda and Travis Wilson.
Join us for visitation March 17, 2025 at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Family will be received from 12 -12:30pm. Visitors will be received from 12:30-1:45pm. Graveside service will follow immediately after.
