Robert Raymond Birdwell Sr., affectionately known as Bob to his friends and family, left this world on December 11, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on December 22, 1952, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Robert Earl and Martha Dean Birdwell, Bob was a lifelong resident of his beloved hometown where he also peacefully passed away.
Bob's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his passion for a variety of interests, and his hardworking nature. He was a loving father to his five children, Brian (Jamie) Birdwell, Russell (Kayla) Birdwell, Bobby Jr. (Roxanne) Birdwell, Amanda Schmidt, and Jamie Williams, who will cherish his memory alongside their children and grandchildren. His siblings Jerry Birdwell (Sandi), Tonja Escue (Don), and Linda Basham (Henry). Bob's legacy will continue to live on through the joy and wisdom he imparted on his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His life was enriched by the companionship of Donna Jones, who stood by him for many years, sharing in laughter, love, and life's simple pleasures.
Before his passing, Bob was preceded by his parents, Robert Earl and Martha Dean Birdwell, and his first wife, Pamela Moore. Additionally, his two grandsons Joshua Adam Birdwell and Collin "CJ" Richard Mills Jr.
Bob had a multitude of interests that kept him engaged with the world around him. He found solace in the twang of country music and the excitement of watching his favorite teams, the Tennessee Titans and NASCAR legend Jimmy Johnson, compete. He could often be found engrossed in a Western, BET or sketching out his latest drawing, showcasing his artistic talent.
A true handyman, Bob could fix anything and often did, much to the appreciation of his family and friends. He took great pride in working alongside his brother and cherished the time spent with his sisters, who held a special place in his heart.
Above all, Bob was a family man. His greatest joy was the time he spent surrounded by his loved ones. Whether it was a family gathering, a quiet evening at home, or supporting his children and grandchildren in their endeavors, he was happiest in the company of his family.
Bob's presence will be profoundly missed by his grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His hearty laugh, sage advice, and the warmth of his smile will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
As we bid farewell to Robert Raymond Birdwell Sr., we reflect on a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his journey. Bob's story is not one of an ending, but a lasting impression on the hearts of those he touched, a narrative of love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family. Family would like to thank the staff and many friends at Silver Birch.
