After a year and a half struggle to get well and regain strength, Robert Eugene Blews lost his fight on July 16, 2025.
He was born on April 18, 1948, to Melvin (Gene) and Ann (Hanna) Blews in Warren, Ohio.
Robert graduated from New Castle High School in 1966.
He married Patricia (Jordan) on April 14, 1967.
Bob served in the Army as an MP, April 1968-1971. His tour of duty was in Okinawa for 18 months and then 12 months at White Sands Missile Range. He later served 17 years of duty as a medic with the PA National Guard.
He worked and retired from Kennedy Tubular Products.
His children are Bonnie (Jeff) DeMarco from New Castle and Daniel (Jocelyn) Blews from Punxsutawney. The grandchildren are Jordan (Gabi), Jeffrey, Joshua (Gabby) DeMarco, and Jillian, Zacharia, Thaddeus and Josiah Blews, and great grandson Grayson DeMarco.
His family is brother-in-law: Michael Hooks from New Brighton and Dr. Larry (Wesena) Jordan from Joplin, MO.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Hooks. Also his in-laws, Andy and Lois Jordan.
He was a faithful member of First Alliance Church where for several years he held position of being a Trustee.
He looked forward to hunting deer and fishing. He had many adventures and stories to share about the trips with his two friends, Paul Lane and Chuck Burkhouse, both have preceded him in death, and he has missed them.
He enjoyed going to nephew, Steven (Rebecca) Hooks home for a cup of coffee and tease their daughter, Olivia.
Bob enjoyed cruises with family and friends to Panama Canal, Alaska, the East Coast and the Caribbean. Several trips were made each year to Benezette to see the Elk.
Being involved with the military and his church family, Bob made many friends. We would like to thank all who supported him while he was ill and faithfully visited him. Also, thanks to his nurse, Angela, who took good care of him and PT Brian and OT Joe who encouraged him to exercise to get better.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Dr., New Castle, PA. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John McCready officiating.
Bob will be laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Alliance Church.
