Heartland Funeral Home of Brandon, SD, is in charge of arrangements for Robert “Bob” J. Holbert, age 84, of Sioux Falls, SD, who passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Active Generations in Bob’s memory.

Robert “Bob” John Holbert was born on October 7, 1940, in Holyoke, MN, to Howard and Hilma (Pierson) Holbert. He moved with his family to Amherst, SD, where he attended grade school, and later graduated from Britton High School in 1958. After graduation, he joined the US Navy.

In 1963, Bob married his best friend, Marilyn Sigaty, and together they owned numerous businesses, from restaurants to lawn service and many more. They enjoyed wintering in Arizona.

Bob was an avid sports fan. He could talk about any player and any team, it didn’t matter the sport – football, softball, baseball, basketball, male, or female. Bob coached both his daughter and son’s softball teams, bringing both teams to championship wins.

Left to cherish Bob’s memories are his wife and best friend of 62 years, Marilyn; daughter, Treava; son, Thomas (Liza); grandchildren, Laura, Marshall, Alexis, Gabbi, Brenden, and Peyton; great grandchildren, Colter, Kenleigh, Evelyn, Clara, Flora, and Russell; brother, Charles; sister, Maggie; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Howard, and Hilma; sisters, Martha, Eleanor, Helen, Betty, Florence, and Lorna; and brothers, Howard, Richard, William, and Eric.
