Robert Anderson “Bob” Matheny, Jr., 92 of Burlington, Kentucky passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on March 31, 1931, in Harlan, Kentucky to Reverend Robert A. Matheny, Sr. and Gertrude Smeltzer Matheny. He was a retired Race Track Photographer, and he owned Ramar Photos. Bob was retired as the Official Track Photographer for many years for Turfway Park, Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Ellis Park and many tracks across the country.
He was a member of Bullittsville Christian Church, Burlington, member of the American Walkers Association and a member of the Nature Conservancy where he received numerous awards throughout his career.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ruth (Murray) Matheny; sons, Robert A. (Sandy) Thompson, Tommy (Luticia) Thompson, Robert A. (the late Sharon) Matheny, III and John (Pat) Matheny; sister, Mary Milton (the late Al) Fanthorp; 10 grandchildren; one great grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Bullittsville Christian Church, Burlington. Funeral services to immediately follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
