Clyde S. Matheny, Jr., 94, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2024. He was born to Clyde S. and Lola Jewel Matheny on September 8, 1929.
Clyde served in the United States Navy. He was a Little Rock Police Officer and a retired United States Postal Clerk. He was a long-time member and deacon of Tyler Street Baptist Church and most recently; a member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley West Matheny; sons, Greg Matheny (Blanche) and Roger Matheny (Alisa Talley); five grandchildren, Autumn, Alan, Andrew, and Austin Matheny, and Emily Hoffman; eleven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin Matheny (Linda). He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Thompson.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, with memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court, Little Rock. A private burial will be held at a later date at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
