Robert "Bob" Jay Webster

Robert Jay “Bob” Webster, contractor, entrepreneur (king of side jobs), and the go-to handy man, finished out his days on Sunday, July 9, 2023, having passed away in his sleep at Pheasant View Assisted Living in Layton, Utah. The family expresses their sincere appreciation for the care he received from the nurses and caregivers at the facility and we congratulate them on surviving his colorful and strong personality.

 

Dad reached the ripe old age of 69, which was a bit of a surprise to his family, as his last three years would have been enough to take out anyone else but Dad, having survived an amputation of his right leg (oh diabetes you cruel disease!), picking up COVID-19 while in the hospital after that amputation surgery, then having a stroke a day or two later, losing his wife to cancer and then fighting to keep his wits about him with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. He has been through many struggles the last few years, but he dished out plenty of mischief throughout his life, so it is only fair that he received a good challenge at the end.

 

He was preceded in death by his sweet second wife, Lorna Lei Mamo Pierson (Soberano) Webster and he is survived by his seven daughters (yes seven girls, no sons), Amy Jo Trimble (Zac), Brandilee Johnson, Cherrilyn Webster (TJ), Dakeri Ann Baca (Tony), Jody Crane (Dan), Traci Marie Curtis (Kevin), Hollie Rosenlund (Tyler), and 20 grandchildren--with one more on the way--and two great grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his daughters and grandchildren.

 

Born on October 9, 1953 to Diane Ga Nae Jones and John Elliott Webster, he was the oldest of the five siblings, Valorie, Jeff, Shauna and Tyler. Robert enjoyed the hard work and excitement of farm life in Kaysville, Utah. His antics and strong work ethic came from working on the family farm and he was incredibly proud of where he came from and instilled in his daughters those same principles of working hard and playing even harder.

 

After graduating from Davis High School, Robert completed a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area, then came home and married his first wife, Denese Blair, divorcing in 2006. Moving across an ocean, he began his next life adventure in Maui, Hawaii. Having been an avid SCUBA diver, and a SCUBA instructor, the move made some sense and he was lucky enough to meet his second wife, Lorna, there in Maui, marrying her in 2015. The two later moved to his hometown (Kaysville, Utah) at the end of 2020 due to the afore-mentioned health struggles and to be closer to his grandkids.

 

For those who knew Robert, you will have experienced the love/hate type of emotions when interacting with him. He was headstrong, stubborn, spoke in expletives, loved the color red, had a beautiful whistle and enjoyed listening to his music loud. An extremely social person, he loved to strike up a conversation with whomever was nearby, whether he knew them or not. Generous to a fault, he would—as the saying goes—give you the shirt off his back. His love language was most definitely gift giving and if he had nothing to give then he would “gift” to multiple people the same object or item; he just couldn’t bear not giving something. He also gave of his time, was not afraid to help out, and would be there at a moment’s notice to provide service when needed.

 

Funeral services will be held for our crazy old man on Saturday, July 15th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Angel Park Chapel, 205 South Angel Street, Kaysville. Friends may visit family on Friday, July 14th, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Rd, Layton, and Saturday, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Angel Park Chapel.
