Mr. Robert Lorans Mashburn (a.k.a. Bobby), age 75, of Old Fort, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on the evening of Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born in Old Fort, North Carolina on May 01, 1945, he was the son of the late George Lorans and Amogene Keaton Mashburn.
Bobby graduated from Mt. View School in Marion, North Carolina in 1963 and attended North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. At an early age he joined Catawba View Baptist Church and was baptized in the Catawba River.
During his career at Collins & Aikman, now AURIA Solutions, in Old Fort, he was promoted to the position of supervisor. He was well respected and a fair supervisor known affectionately as “Dr. Bob”. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed riding around the country side, looking at the mountains, cooking or riding his bicycle on back roads. Bobby was a faithful and devoted son to his mother whom he adored.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Abby, whom he referred to as his granddaughter; his devoted and loving partner, Linda Shelton; a host of cousins; and many friends.
Bobby will be remembered as the patriarch of the family, quiet, humble and private with a kind heart. Although he was a mild-mannered person, he was a loyal family member and loved them all.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 01, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Mr. Jim Rhinehart officiating. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery in Old Fort. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
