Robert Bobo Obituary

Known to everyone as Bob, he was born on June 7, 1960 to Robert G. Bobo Sr. and Marlyn Smith Bobo in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from Cherokee High School in Marlton, NJ in 1978, he started studying marine biology at East Stroudsburg State College. After a couple of years, he decided to forgo college and chase his dream of making it big playing drums in a band called Coup D'état. Coup D'état was very popular in the Philadelphia original music scene in the mid to late 1980s. After leaving the band in the late 80's he started a long career in audio sales working most of his life at Overture Ultimate Home Electronics in Wilmington DE.
Bob was a proud father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his son and grandson. He was an audiophile who was passionate about anything related to music. Bob was a huge Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed watching the Eagles win the super bowl this year. He was an avid photographer, a great writer and orator, loved playing drums and watching live music, telling stories, and lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his partner Diane Stephens; his mother Marlyn Bobo; his siblings Jean Bobo Read, Eric Bobo and wife Editha Cygan; his nephew Spencer Read; his grandson, Robert G. Bobo IV; and extended family members Elysse Epperson and Julian.
Preceded in death by his son Robert G. Bobo III; his father Robert G. Bobo Sr.
Visitation from 1-3pm and a Memorial Service from 3-4pm will be held at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home on Concord Pike in Wilmington DE on Saturday, February 22. A reception will follow the service from 4-7pm at the Talleyville Fire Company on Concord Pike across from the funeral home.
In lieu flowers the family requests donations be made to the Robert G. Bobo IV Trust Fund.

We purchased our system in 2012 from Bo. I loved working with him. One day I bought a few (vinyl) albums to do some testing. We both listened for 30- 40 minutes. As I was walking out he said "Frank, so glad you didn't bring anything from KC & The Sunshine Band!" Great guy. Our condolences to his family and all the staff at Overture. Good man!

Brother Bo a cold call to Overture 10 yrs ago started an awesome friendship you became my friend before you became my salesman I am heartbroken I can´t accept this right now but my faith will guide me through and the good news is my faith assures me we will meet again I love you my 3 hour rides to your store were not to save tax or shipping fees but to stand face to face with an honest good man who took the time to increase my knowledge of audio but more importantly to have my life enhanced by your presence James Durenberger Bay Shore NY

To the entire Bobo family, I am so very sorry for this tremendous loss, and pray for your comfort and peace. I had the privilege of playing with Bob in Coup d' Etat. Our time together during the band years were instrumental in forming all the years to followed. He was straight-forward, sincere, multi-talented and unforgettable.

Bobo, this is Gabriel. I cherish our time together and I hope to see you again someday. I love you and always felt on cloud nine when I knew you were on Drums. Being in the band, Coup d etat with you with some of the best times of my life. Your musicianship was the same as your manner which is intelligent, classy, fun and an all-around beautiful guy and a heart of gold.I am so sorry I did not get to see you in the last few years. I love you.
