Robert L. Bondy

Robert Leo Bondy, age 92 of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away in the early morning hours of December 20, 2024. He was born on July 29, 1932 in Windsor, Ontario to his late parents Leo and Mae (Holland) Bondy.
Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1957, where he trained as an Aircraft and Engine Mechanic. Eventually he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, obtained his commercial flying license, and flew many aircrafts including the PA-22 Super Cub, T-6 Harvard, T-28 Trojan, B-25 Mitchell bomber, and the Convair T-29 "Flying Classroom."
Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bob continued his education with a focus on science and education, signing to Fraser Public Schools for many years. He was selected for the Free Press/MSTA 1984 High School Teacher of the Year for Michigan. He volunteered extensively for Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Macomb Reading Partners, and Fraser Adult Education Program.
Bob will be dearly remembered for his kindness and love. He is survived by his children Sheryl (Dan) Marion and Douglas (Patti) Robinson, grandchildren Lisa (Doug), Scott (Christina), Doug, Victoria and Valerie (Darren), and many beloved great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Barbara Hubbard, Karon and Rick (Marilyn) Bondy, and Mary (John) Kozak. Many loving nieces, nephews, and dearest extended family also survive. Besides his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Bennett, second wife Anna Lou Sniffin, and siblings Margaret (the late Ken) Dezur, Jerry (the late Deanna), Ed, and Tom Bondy, and Frank Hubbard.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, Mt. Clemens. A Memorial Mass at St. Thecla Catholic Church, Clinton Twp on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM, with family and friends welcomed for 9:00 visitation. In memory of Bob, charitable donations may be addressed to Selfridge Military Air Museum, Macular Degeneration Research, Oakland University Science Department, University of Detroit or Hospice of Livonia.
