In Loving Memory of Robert “Rob” Nelson Bridger

June 19, 1948 – March 9, 2026

Rob Bridger, 77, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 9, 2026. A man of profound integrity, dedicated service, and immense love for his family, Rob leaves behind a legacy of compassion and leadership that will be felt for generations.

Born on June 19, 1948, in Norfolk, Virginia, Rob grew up in Newport News alongside his brother, Royce. Following high school, Rob answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1969. Serving honorably as a 1st Class Hospital Corpsman at Bethesda Naval Hospital during the Vietnam War, he discovered a lifelong passion for caring for others, particularly those facing severe medical and mental health challenges.

It was during his Navy tour that Rob met the love of his life, Maureen Fallon, a fellow Navy nurse. They were wed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on November 11, 1972, beginning a beautiful 53-year journey together.

In the early 1970s, Rob decided to continue his education, relocating to Florida to attend Stetson University, where he graduated with a focus on psychology and social work. His commitment to excellence led him to Florida State University, where he earned a second Master’s degree in Public Administration. Rob dedicated 37 years of his professional life to serving his community, focusing on programs that helped children in need of medical services. His achievements were vast, including serving as a Regional Program Administrator for Children’s Medical Services—overseeing a $17.9 billion budget for children with special needs—and as Bureau Chief for statewide public assistance. Throughout his career, he was a tireless advocate for the homeless, the elderly, and medically needy children, always striving to make his community a better place.

In 1989, Rob and Maureen moved to The Trails in Ormond Beach, where Rob became a pillar of the local community. He served more than a decade on the HOA Board of Directors, including a tenure as President. He was instrumental in strengthening homeowner engagement and chaired the Newspaper Committee for "The Canopy."

In his home life, there were "his girls." Rob was the rock of support for his family—always there to help, coach, and mentor. He celebrated the birth of his daughter, Erin, on May 20, 1975, and later the birth of his granddaughter, Andreya, on January 5, 2007. Rob attended every game, no matter the sport or activity, and was consistently their biggest fan. To his granddaughter, he was affectionately known as “GDaddy.” Rob was an avid FSU sports fan, a dedicated tennis player, and a cyclist. He was always up for an adventure, whether it was a trip or a cruise, and he and Maureen traveled the world together, making a lifetime of memories.

Rob is preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Evelyn Bridger, and his brother, Royce G. Bridger. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Maureen C. Bridger; his daughter, Erin M. Bridger; his granddaughter, Andreya R. Bridger; his sister-in-law, Judith Bridger; and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Rob Bridger lived a life defined by the values of service, leadership, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
