Robert Knox Britton

Robert Knox Britton, 87, died Monday, February 24, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Born June 11, 1937, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Leonard Knox Britton, Sr. and the late Evelyn McCoy Britton. Mr. Britton was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. He grew up in the Britton Community of Sumter County and was a former member of Zoar Methodist Church where he led music for a number of years. He organized a time of devotion and singing for the residents of Palmetto Towers. He attended Wingate Junior College where he earned a degree in accounting and served in the U.S. Army. Over his accounting career he worked with Civil Service at Ft. Jackson, Hess Oil Company, Sumter Casket Company, and the Sumter Housing Authority. Mr. Britton enjoyed playing cards with his card group and loved travelling.
His is survived by his brother, James "Jay" Britton (Suzette) of Sumter; three nieces, Kristi Bohnen (Ian), Chersten Cohn (Ron), and Elaine Miller; a nephew, Warren Davis (Karen); and several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard K. Britton, Jr., a sister, Carolyn Britton Davis; and brother-in-law, E.W. Davis.
Services will be private.
