Robert “Bob” Gerald Brockmeier of Inman, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the age of 84. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on July 26, 1940 to the late Myrtle McFalls (George Boyd) and William Edward Brockmeier, Sr.
Bob was raised in Asheville, NC and attended Alexander Schools in Union Mills, NC. In 9th grade, he met his wife-to-be, Anita “Yvonne” Hayes. Bob was a star half-back on the Alexander High School football team, and Yvonne was his cheerleader. They were married shortly after graduation and lived a wonderful 65 years together.
Bob enlisted in in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country as a Radarman 2nd Class for four years. He and Yvonne then moved to South Carolina to be closer to her family. There, Bob began his career in construction as a general contractor. For over 50 years, Bob was part of the construction team for everything from residential homes to many Denny’s and Waffle House locations.
In his free time, Bob loved to watch college football and was an avid Duke University basketball fan. He was well known for his huge heart and generous spirit; he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Most of all, Bob was a true family man. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and loved each of them dearly.
Bob is survived by his wife, Anita “Yvonne” Brockmeier; daughters, Lisa Southard, Lori Dixon, and Leslie Harris (Chris); eight grandchildren, Laura “Monique” Elliott-Chincholikar (Kaushik), Robert Brian Page, Jeffery Lee Blackwell, Christan Dixon-Pineda, Victoria “Tori” Domonique Harris (Davey Johnson), Kira Elise Southard, Leah Grace Southard, and Jena Hayes Southard; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Michael Stokes, Olivya Grace Grubbs, Mark Aiden Dougherty, McKenzy Leanne Pineda, Jackson Elliott Blackwell, Malakai Tracey Turner, Oliver James Turner, and Amelia Elise Turner; his brother, Terry Dale Brockmeier; sister-in-law, Dean Jones; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, William Edward Brockmeier, Richard Lanny Brockmeier, and Charles Bernard Brockmeier; sisters, Jean B. Melton (Bob) and Thelma B. Spake (Jack); and son-in-law, Tommy Southard.
