"The song has ended, but the melody lingers on." Robert Oscar Browder was born on Fathers Day, June 16, 1935, to Oscar Walton and Eva (Stanley) Browder in Cleveland, OH. He passed away on April 30, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, 47 days short of his 90th birthday.
Bob was the beloved husband of Susan (Szakovits) for 63 years, and she survives. He has been a loving father to his three daughters: Kimberly (Randy Tice) Woggon, Michelle (Kevin) Fisher, and Lynette (Steve) Hablitzel; the best grandfather to Nathan (Sara) Woggon, Nichole (Greg) Toupal, Devin Fisher, Delany Hablitzel, Madison (Bryan) Fanning, Mason and Grace Hablitzel; a devoted great-grandpa to JoJo Woggon and Rori Toupal; and an adoring uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Bob was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and they loved him.Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lee (June) Browder, Wes (Dolores) Browder, John (Alma) Browder; sisters: Betty (Richard) Steinmiller, Margaret Browder, and Mary Browder; and brother-in-law Robert Szakovits.
Bob graduated from Salem-Oak Harbor High School and attended classes at the University of Toledo. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a lifetime member of the American Legion, an Oak Harbor Golf Course member, and a member of the former Loyal Order of the Moose, Port Clinton, Ohio. He retired in 1992 from BP Toledo Refinery where he was a Maintenance Training Senior Supervisor.
In retirement, his favorite hobby was golf, golf, and more golf. A favorite destination was Myrtle Beach. During his early retirement years, he and Susan spent several winters golfing in Mission, Texas. Later, they spent many winters in Florida. They went on several cruises, with the Alaskan cruise being a highlight. They enjoyed traveling together, missing only two states.
Reading was a favorite pastime, mostly westerns and mysteries and often finishing a book in the wee hours of the morning. Bobs favorite movies were anything John Wayne. Of course, the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns were his lifelong favorite teams. However, if either team played poorly he would stop watching and leave the room upset.
His Wednesday golf buddies and Thursday Kozy Korners breakfast friends were of the utmost importance to him. Bob delighted in telling a good joke, and lately his favorite was his "octilectomy" one. He took pleasure in watching and feeding the backyard birds and squirrels. Playing euchre with the grandkids was a special treat for him. His favorite foods were peanut butter, any kind of nuts, ice cream, and an occasional Yuengling.
