Mr. Robert Luther Burns was born in Anderson County, South Carolina on July 17, 1941 to Luther and Lillie Mae Burns. He departed this life at the age of 83 on Saturday, April 5, 2025 National Health Care (NHC) of Anderson.
Robert grew up in Belton, SC. He joined New Hopewell Baptist Church at an early age. He worked as a brick mason until he retired. After retiring, Robert loved to garden and eat sweet potatoes. His favorite past time was eating breakfast at Hardee's with a group of guys every morning before his health declined. He accepted Christ in Greenville Hospital in November of 2024.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Lucy Mae Partlow Burns; his daughter, Lillie Mae Burns; stepchildren, Brenda Burns, Joann Merritt, Raymond Burns and Lynda Skelton; a special nephew, Rufus Burns, Jr.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lillie Mae Holloway Burns; two sisters, Ledale Robinson and Ruby Mae Bradley; and two brothers, Rufus Burns and Marvin Burns.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held Saturday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his stepdaughter, Lynda Skelton, 303 Clarke Stream Drive, Anderson, SC.
