Robert J. “Bob” Burns, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2025. He was born on December 1st, 1942, in Brighton, Massachusetts, to the late William Burns and Mary (Ellis) Burns. Raised in the Brighton neighborhood, he graduated from Brighton High School. Bob also proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves for six years.

Bob spent his early career as a salesman with Acme Glass before fulfilling his dream of owning and operating his own glass business, which he ran for many years. He later continued his professional life at Wear-guard until his retirement. After retirement he went on to drive for The Ride for more than 20 years, a role he truly enjoyed as it allowed him to stay active and connected with people.

He loved traveling, especially trips to the Bahamas and Bermuda, where he could relax and enjoy the sunshine. One of his favorite pastimes was golfing, particularly when he could share the course with his son Michael—time he deeply cherished.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy Burns of East Weymouth, children Michael C. Burns of Warren, Rhode Island, and Michelle Burns of East Weymouth; his grandchildren, Brittany and Shauna; and great-grandchild, Giovanni. Bob is also survived by his sisters, Kathy, Eileen, and Maureen.

Bob was predeceased by his parents and his siblings Helen, Donna, Michael, Billy, and Jimmy.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours at C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St. in Weymouth, on Sunday, January 4th, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Burial will be private.
