Robert "Bozzi" Cogan, of Woburn, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 14th, at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to the late Lorraine (Fiumara) Cogan, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and companionship.
Born and raised in Woburn, Robert was the cherished son of the late Ralph and Mary Elizabeth (Canney) Cogan. He was a proud graduate of Woburn High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army for one year.
Bozzi was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was his family. He was the loving father of Valerie Cogan and her partner Jason Power, and Meredith Olson and her husband Donald, all of Woburn. He was the proud and cherished grandfather of Sofia, Jenna, Matthew, and Madison, and took great pride in attending their sporting events, always cheering them on from the sidelines.
After returning from the Army, Robert worked at a local Woburn tannery before starting his own business running a canteen truck route throughout the North Shore of Massachusetts. A hardworking man his entire life, he later built a long career in inventory control at United Stationers, where he eventually retired. He took great pride in an honest day's work and in providing for his family.
One special evening out dancing changed his life forever when he shared a dance with a young woman named Lorraine. From that moment on, they were inseparable. They married in 1969 and chose Woburn as the place to build their home and raise their family. Together they enjoyed traveling throughout New England and beyond, often taking scenic rides to coastal towns in search of the perfect lobster roll. They also loved spending time with family, hosting poker nights with friends, and attending music festivals where Bozzi could often be found enjoying the music and dancing alongside Lorraine.
Robert had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, hiking, spending time at the beach, and especially nature photography, often searching for birds and capturing the beauty around him. He and Lorraine also treasured their winters spent in Fort Myers, creating lasting memories together.
A loyal Boston sports fan, Bozzi followed all the hometown teams, but nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren play sports. Kind, devoted, and full of life, Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of family, hard work, and fun-loving, wild-at-heart spirit will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn, on Thursday, January 22nd, from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bozzi's memory to the Tanner Ta Ta Foundation, 100 Tower Office Park, Unit F,
