JOHN J. DEVINE, of Woburn, died suddenly on January 13, 2026, at the age of eighty-three. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire M. (Nielsen) Devine. He was the devoted father of Paul Devine and his husband, Rob, of California; John P. "Jay" Devine of Woburn; Deborah Austin and her husband, Bill Austin, of Atlanta; Eddie Loud and his wife, Doreen Loud, of Maryland; John Loud and Holly Thomas of Atlanta; and Linda Loud of Woburn, who was truly the heart and soul of the family and his greatest supporter. He was the dear brother of Mary Ellen Devine; Denis Devine; and Peter Devine and his wife, Kathy Devine. He was the cherished grandfather of Danielle Russo and her husband, Derek Russo, of Wilmington; Paul Hart and his wife, Julia Hart, of Tennessee; Ashlee McGlashing of Woburn; Cameron McGlashing and his wife, Nathalia McGlashing, of Tewksbury; Joshua Loud of Atlanta, GA; Caroline Loud of NYC; Brianna Loud; Emily Loud of Wilmington; and Eddie Loud and his wife, Hannah Loud, of Maryland. He is survived by his beloved great-grandchildren: Jaden Doherty, Alexa Hart, Ansley Hart, Amelia Hart, Claire Russo, Matthew Lapointe, Camilla Hart, Mackenzie Lapointe, Logan McGlashing, Charlotte Russo, Michael Lapointe, and Ana McGlashing, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Claire Devine; his grandson, Thomas Hart; and his brothers, James and Daniel Devine, and his sister Patricia Devine. In addition, he is survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as his extended Woburn Cab North Suburban family, who were a meaningful part of his life. His Funeral Mass will be held on January 20th at 11:30 a.m. in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Monday, January 19, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn. With shattered hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, a man of exceptional character who was deeply loved and widely respected throughout his community. John's warm smile, gentle words, and steady presence made all who knew him feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. His absence leaves the world quieter and our hearts forever changed.
John was the beloved husband of the late Claire M. (Nielsen) Devine, with whom he shared a lifetime of love. While our grief is heavy, we find comfort in knowing they have been reunited and are together again, watching over the family they built with such devotion.
He was a devoted father, cherished grandfather, and the heart and foundation of his family-a guiding teacher, steadfast protector, and unwavering source of support, loving each of us fiercely and unconditionally.
He is survived by his loving children: Paul Devine and his husband, Rob, of California; John P. "Jay" Devine of Woburn; Deborah Austin and her husband, Bill Austin, of Atlanta; Eddie Loud and his wife, Doreen Loud, of Maryland; John Loud and Holly Thomas of Atlanta; and Linda Loud of Woburn.
