Robert Cornyn Obituary
Robert Jon Cornyn passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2022. "Bob" as he was affectionately called was born in Detroit, Michigan to Jesse and Delbert Cornyn. Bob graduated from Taylor Center High School in 1963, enlisted in the Army and was assigned to Orleans, France.
1964, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Linda Lee DeLeon, and together they built a life which spanned over five decades, thirty-one years of military service, three biological children, over 70 adopted children, 52 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous foster children.
Bob loved his country and throughout his extensive military career, he served two tours in Vietnam, earned a Bronze medal and the medal for meritorious service. Bob retired in 1994 and with his family, settled in Fife, Washington. He also earned a Master's in Science degree from Eastern Washington University.
Bob's greatest passions were his wife, Linda of 58 years, the Children of Rainbow Acres, the Mariners, the Seahawks, Musicals, watching his children compete in Special Olympics, and the bald eagle; symbol of strength, freedom, courage, and immortality.
Please join the Children of Rainbow Acres as we celebrate our dad and papa. Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 1 PM. Immanuel Lutheran Church, 720 W. Main Street Puyallup.

Kids! That is what comes to mind when my sons and I think of Bob. Always surrounded by kids at Fred Meyer, watching his kids at so many Special Olympics meets and visiting their house in Fife which was built to accommodate all of his kids. Think of him often and remember his commitment to family.

When my youngest son, Bradford, joined Special Olympics, we met the Cornyn family. Fell in love with the children and respected Bob and Linda because of their commitment to adopting children in need. They raised their kids to take care of each other, to become the family we all need. Always fun to run into to the children or Bob. Each year, Bob wrote the best Christmas letter ever detailing the successes of each child. A man who made a difference in the lives of so many, including my family.

Bob & Linda had several students in my class over the years. Bob was a strong advocate for his beautiful children, with a heart the size of Mount Rainier. It was a privilege to know this great man doing our Lord's work. He taught me what really matters in life. He gave me encouraging words as we advocated together. Bob, you shall live on in our hearts. To Linda and the kids, he will watch over you from heaven, just as he did in life. Hugs to you all.

Dad was like no other. He was humble to a fault , funny, intelligent, and the most selfless caring man I have ever known. May he rest in peace. Until we are together again love you always dad.
