Robert Croney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cargain Funeral Homes Inc. - Mahopac on Dec. 31, 2025.
Robert Croney, a man of exceptional courage and boundless optimism, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on December 18, 1954, Robert's zest for life and loving nature touched the hearts of everyone he met. A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served his country with honor from 1972 to 1973, embodying the spirit of dedication that he carried through all aspects of his life.
Robert's love story with his wife, Janis, began with their marriage on November 15, 2003, a union that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He was a devoted husband, and his unwavering love and support were the cornerstones of their life together. The couple shared many cherished moments, including trips to the Jersey Shore, where they reveled in the simple pleasures of sun, sand, and sea.
He embraced Janis's three daughters, Theresa, Amy, and Jennifer, as his own, forging a bond of love and respect that stood the test of time. His role as a stepfather was one he took to heart, guiding and nurturing them with a gentle hand. Robert's three step-grandchildren, Alexa, Brianna, and Michael, were a source of immense pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Robert's siblings held a special place in his life. He is survived by his brother Vinny, and sisters Ruth, Arlene, and Linda, who will miss his infectious laughter and unwavering support. Predeceased by Richie, Tommy, and Diane, Robert's memory will serve as a bridge, keeping their spirits alive within the family.
A man of diverse interests, Robert had a passion for range shooting, finding solace and focus in the sport. His fascination with snakes and reptiles reflected his appreciation for the natural world's complexity and beauty. But above all, Robert loved his family with an intensity that was both inspiring and humbling, a testament to the depth of his character.
Robert's life was one of courage, from his early days in the Marine Corps to the bravery with which he faced life's challenges. His optimism was a beacon for those around him, a reminder to look for the good in every situation. His loving nature was his gift to the world, one that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
