1931-2024
Robert Crotser, a longtime resident of Haines City, FL, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024, at the age of 93. On May 24, 1931, Bob was born in Dansville, NY, to Emily Schwendler and James Crotser. Bob's faith in God sustained him throughout his life and shaped the way he lived, as well as his interests and activities.
He graduated from Dansville Central High School. On December 8, 1951, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jean Williams, and they raised their five children in Dansville, NY. Bob went to work for Fran Henty as a carpenter and when Fran retired he started his own construction company in Dansville, NY. Bob and his friends built a home for his family on Park Ave in Dansville. In 1981, Bob and Jean moved to FL where he continued to work in construction as a finish carpenter. His many hobbies/interests included being lay leader and singing in the choir at Dansville United Methodist Church; served on the Board of Trustees at Dundee Methodist Church; reading; playing cards; and was cub scout pack leader while his sons were in scouts. He was in the Army Reserves from Jan 11, 1951, to December 28, 1959, where he reached the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He and Jean were married for 71 years.
Bob was predeceased by: his parents, Emily and James Crotser; his wife, Jean Crotser; his son, David Crotser; son-in-law, Peter Raimondo; and daughter-in-law, Mary Crotser.
Bob is survived by: brother-in-law Donald Williams (Davenport, FL); daughter Janet Stevens-Raimondo (San Antonia, TX); son Ronald Crotser (Oneonta, NY); daughter Susan Brown, (Haines City, FL); son Michael Crotser (N Chili, NY); Grandchildren Sean Stevens, Colin Stevens, James Brown, Sara Brown, Renee Crotser, Regina Crotser, Jake Crotser, and Gregory Crotser; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A funeral service will be held at Dansville United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 5th at 10:30 am, with a reception to follow.
