Norwich - Robert E. Crowell Jr., 77, affectionately known as "Poppy," passed away on August 29, 2025. He was born in Norwich, CT, on November 24, 1947, the son of the late Robert E. Crowell Sr. and Lois (Browning) Crowell, and the husband of the late Myra Beth (Tiven) Crowell, whom he married on June 29, 1969.
Bob was predeceased by his oldest daughter, Dana Crowell Wynn, and survived by her husband, Evan Wynn; his daughter, Betty Baillargeon (Chris); his son, Robert E. Crowell III; and his grandchildren, Timothy Ryan IV, Shea Capizzano (Jeff), Hunter Baillargeon, Walker Baillargeon, Makenzie Crowell, and Mason Crowell. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Levi Ryan and Cooper Capizzano.
His family includes his sister, Marilynn Hyde (Gordon); his sister-in-law, Laurie Percy; his niece, Amy Jeffers (Kevin); and his nephews, Todd Jeffers (Christine) and Jason Percy and his late niece, Kelly Jeffers. He is also survived by Evan's children, Rachel Wynn (Troy) and Bryan Wynn (Darien), as well as his extended Treat's Pools family.
All are welcome to join in a Celebration of Poppy's life at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3rd at Prime 82 Restaurant, 181 West Town Street. A private burial for family and close friends will take place earlier at 12:00 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike.
