Robert Deatherage

Robert S. Deatherage, known affectionately as Bobby, 70, of Coffeyville passed away on December 30, 2025, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born on January 5, 1955, in Tampa, Florida. When Robert was young, he was adopted by his uncle and aunt, William and Margaret Deatherage. He spent his formative years in Belleville, Illinois where he graduated from Belleville East High School. His journey of life took him to many parts of the world, before he settled in rural Coffeyville in 2005.

Robert served 10 years in the Army with an honorable discharge as a Staff Sargeant. He then had a fulfilling career as a Shipping and Receiving Manager at Cessna Aircraft in Independence, Kansas. His dedication and hard work in the shipping and receiving department earned him notable recognition. He found joy in his hobbies which included motorcycles, reading, genealogy, martial arts, and taking care of his dogs. However, the most precious thing to Bob was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and always put his family first.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Linda Deatherage, his daughter Angela Wickes and her husband James, his son, Dan Deatherage, his stepson Stacey Allen, his stepdaughter Jennifer Dodd and her husband Jeremiah, his brother Keith Hawks, and his sisters Cecilia Rosenthal and Gina Basile. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

Following Robert's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, and there will be a private memorial at later date.
