Robert D. Deitch, MD, JD 74, Carmel, passed away August 10, 2007 from complications of Parkinson's disease. Dr. Deitch was born in Indianapolis, IN on October 18, 1932 to parents, Victor and Marjorie (Miller) Deitch. Dr. Deitch, an Ophthalmologist, was a graduate of Shortridge High School, Indiana University School of Medicine and the Indiana University School of Law. He also served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Dr. Deitch was passionate about learning and exploring nature. He enjoyed traveling, genealogy, hiking, mathematics, Spanish and history. He was a former member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Meridian Hills Country Club. Dr. Deitch is survived by his children: Robert D. Deitch, Jr., MD and wife, Shawn of Carmel, IN, S. Douglas Deitch, MD and wife, Bambi of Ashland, KY, Brenda Suris of Commerce Twp., MI, Denise Bertagni and husband, John of Barrington, IL, and Elise Deitch of Los Angeles, CA; stepdaughter: Paula Forsyth of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren: Ben Deitch, Zach Deitch, Max Suris, Emma Suris, Bailey Deitch, Aubrey Deitch, and Amelia Bertagni. He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Marcie Endicott of Indianapolis, IN. Family and friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2007 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center- Broad Ripple. Burial will be private in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Deitch's honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (http: www.michaeljfox.org) or Marc Suris Legacy Foundation for Hodgkin's Research (husband of Brenda Deitch Suris), 7161 Ilanaway, West Bloomfield, MI 48324.
