Robert Earl "Bob" Diment

1935 - 2023

Robert "Bob" Earl Diment, age 87, of Oscoda, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023 in Gaylord.
He was born on November 20, 1935 to the late Vernell and Thelma (Sprenger) Diment. Robert graduated from Coleman High School and went on to obtain his Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University.
Robert married Beverly W. Thayer on Aug. 13, 1960 and he was so proud of their 63 years of marriage. Robert was loved by all and always there for his family. His family was high spirited and he was the rooted one. He was the rock of the family and always the person to turn to for life's important information.
Robert was the ultimate handyman and builder; always helping his family with building and remodeling projects. He and Beverly built three houses together, as well as countless other building projects and took pride in all they accomplished, not only as a couple, but also for their family. He was very social and could strike up a conversation anytime or anywhere and was funny, but never hurtful with his humor.
Robert was a beloved industrial arts (shop) teacher at Richardson Junior High School of Oscoda.
He absolutely loved running into his old students throughout the years, whether it was in Oscoda or when he was out of town. Robert forged many close relationships throughout his 87 years, several were in Coleman, but most were his teaching friends at Oscoda Schools. He loved his friends and neighbors in Wakefield subdivision. They helped he and Beverly through thick and thin.
Robert is survived by his loving children, Kim (Dr. Carl Schubert) Diment and Scott (Belinda) Diment; grandchildren, Dugan and Jensen Diment; step-grandchildren, Ryan, Ian and Evan Schubert and Emily and Katie Smith; sisters-in-law, Thelma Diment and Joan Diment; and nieces and nephews, Linda Hohner and Tom, Steve and Bill Diment.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; brothers, James and Richard Diment; and nephew, Dennis Diment.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda.
