Remembering Robert "Bob" Joseph Dollar. Robert, 94, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, with his family by his side.
Robert lived his life with generosity, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family. He was born in Muldrow, Oklahoma on April 11, 1931. After high school graduation in 1949, he served in the U.S.
Air Force, received a B.S. in Biology from Northeastern State College, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 1954. He earned a Masters Degree in Education from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1956, and a Doctorate
In Education from Oklahoma State University in
Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 1963. His long career in education included teaching high school math, science, and coaching basketball and baseball in Oklahoma and Kansas. At the university level,
Robert served as Assistant Dean of Men at Oklahoma
State University-Stillwater, Dean of Students at
University of Texas-Arlington, and Professor and
Chair of Higher and Adult Education and Interim Dean of the College of Education at the University of Missouri- Columbia, where he retired in 1996.
Bob liked life on his farm, and activities around it. Among other long-time interests and hobbies, he enjoyed much success in pursuit of excellence in breeding of Old English Game Bantams (particularly Spangled Old English) and registered polled
Hereford cattle. He especially valued socializing and collaborating with others who shared the interests.
His most joyful achievement was 70 happy years of marriage to his beloved wife, Carolyn Dollar. He is survived by his wife Carolyn along with his children,
Joe and Kathy Dollar, Susan Dollar and Debra McFarland, Brian Dollar, and
Jim and Kathy Dollar, grandchildren Jaime Dollar and Steve Branstetter, Sarah Dollar and Mark Logush, Austin and Alice Dollar, Byron and Lydia Dollar, and Sally and Jacob Zembles, and great grandchildren, Regina and Charlotte Logush, Nina and Quinn
Branstetter, Ava Zembles, and Robert Dollar.
He gave his children, grandchildren and great children the greatest gift-his time, patience, and unconditional love. He shared his quiet wisdom with us, and he was always there when we needed him. His steady presence and warm heart will be remembered by all who knew him.
A private family memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
