Robert Donihoo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith-Gallo Funeral Home - Guthrie on Jan. 16, 2026.
Robert "Bobby" Eugene Donihoo, 79, of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born August 6, 1946 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Hermon Andrew and Clara Eugenia (Rieff) Donihoo.

Bobby was a sports "nut". He loved to play golf and shoot pool with family and friends. He also loved going to OU football games and had season tickets for many years. He also liked watching NFL football games and had a few favorite teams.

Back in his younger days, he also loved to dance and it has been known he wore out five different girls on the dance floor and this actually happened on more than one occasion.

He served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. When he returned home, he worked for a few different companies including Humpty Dumpty Warehouse, American General, Kerr McGee, and Lucent Technologies from which he retired. While employed at Kerr McGee, he played softball with one of their teams and ended up as their coach. Bobby played some type of ball all of his life.

While at Lucent Technologies, he and Eda were involved in a community service group called Telephone Pioneers.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Hermon and Clara; his brother, Jerry and sister-in-law, Mary Lou; one nephew, Jerry, Jr.; and one niece, Roxanne.

He is survived by wife of 57 years, Eda Elizabeth (Massa) Donihoo; brother, Bill and his wife, Ruby and Ruby's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; two nephews, John Allen and Larry; his great-nephew, Kevin Donihoo; nephew-in-law, Gilbert; grandnephews, Kyle and Frankie Perez; and many great and wonderful cousins.

Funeral services for Bobby will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 22, 2026 at First Assembly of God Church located at 1900 South Division Street in Guthrie with Pastor Jamie Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery located at 1808 North Pine Street in Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

The family has requested that you wear your favorite sports team jersey to Bobby's funeral service.

There will not be any visitation and the casket will not be open at any time.

The family has requested that no flowers be sent to Bobby's funeral service and that a memorial donation be made in his name to the Epicenter Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 534, Kingfisher, Oklahoma 73750.

It is impossible to sum someone up in just a few words - especially someone like Bobby. He was an exceptional man, a true gentleman and a loyal friend. When I think of him, I always remember his smile and his incredible dancing. He was my friend, and he will be deeply missed by me, his family, and the many friends whose lives he touched. My love to Eda.
