Mr. Robert James Dortch

Robert James Dortch age 73, departed this life on September 26, 2022 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi surrounded by his wife and children. He was born January 2, 1949 to the late David E. Dortch and the late Hattie M. Dortch.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Nathaniel, Samuel and David Jr.; and sister, Alma.
Robert was a member of Plainville Church. He graduated from Linwood High School in Yazoo County. He was among the best mechanics and loved it until his health began to fail. Robert was that family member that everyone asked about and he loved that. He also loved to eat and that's when you knew he wasn't well when he didn't eat cousin, Bertha Swan's greens; or anything his sister-in-law, Deloris Hill cooked, and didn't talk to his cousin Frank Stiff every other day.
Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dortch and children: Bernard Dortch and Lorenda Lisa Dortch all of Jackson, MS; sisters: Lydia Dortch and Earlean Dortch of Jackson MS; and Thedia Gaston of Canton, MS; brother, Benjamin Dortch of Detroit, MI. His memories will be cherished by nieces: Sandra Dortch, Sherri Littleton, Tameka Gaston and Mable Horton; nephews: B J Dortch, Anthony Dortch, Terry Stiff, Charles Dortch; sisters-in-law: Deloris Hill, Savannah Michael, Charlean Dortch and Eula Chinn; brother in-law, Arthur Jones; and host of cousins he loved dearly too many to name without leaving someone out; forever friends: Gerald Bradfield, Harry Horton, Newton Bradfield, Charles Wells and Solomon Washington.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 01, 2022at 11:00a.m. at Peoples Chapel, 886 North Farish Street, Jackson, Mississippiwith hisFinal Resting Place being Autumn Woods Memorial Cemetery, 4000 West Northside Drive, Jackson,Mississippi.
