Robert Duncanson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 19, 2025.
Robert A. Duncanson, PhD, 68, of Marstons Mills, passed away suddenly on December 15, 2025, with his loving wife, Dr. Dale Saad, by his side. Dr. Bob was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on December 20, 1956.

Bob graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in microbiology and went on to receive his PhD in microbiology from the University of Rhode Island. Bob retired from the Coast Guard Reserve after serving in Cape May, New Jersey, Castle Hill, Rhode Island, and the summer station in Osterville, Massachusetts.

Bob worked for the Town of Chatham in many roles, retiring as the Director of Natural Resources. He was involved in many Cape Cod committees and community activities.

Throughout his life he had a love for sailing. He was world traveler. He loved cruises and had crossed the oceans many times. One of his fondest memories was being in the Arctic surrounded by whales!

Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dr. Dale Saad. He was predeceased by his children Michael, Christopher, and Michaela as well as his brothers Norman, John, and William.

To honor Bob, please be the best you can be, try your hardest to help others, and pay it forward. Robert lived this to the end, being an organ donor.

Donations in Bob's name can be made to the Cape Cod Times Neighborhood Fund; https://neighborsfund.org/

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

Yesterday

My sincere condolences to Bobs wife on his sudden passing.
I worked with Bob one summer water testing all the Chatham beaches and ponds. It was a lot of work and Bob always put all of his efforts into his job.
