Robert "Red" Eddie Dungan, 55, of
McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away on June 20, 2024, in Madison, Wisconsin.
Viewing will be Sunday, July 14, 2024 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2024 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick at with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps Honors Team.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rico Hauk, Keith Smith, Keith Spurlock and Phil Long.
Following the service the family will host a reception for family and friends at Heavenly Delights Bakery.
Born on August 16, 1968, in McAlester, to Bertie Lee and Shirley Faye (Nobles) Dungan, Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose zest for life and ability to fix anything mechanical left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Robert graduated from McAlester High School in 1986, a place where he began to shape his future and forge lifelong friendships. His sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, including a tour in Desert Storm. Robert continued to serve his community as a materials handler at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant for the las 15 years, where his work ethic and camaraderie were highly valued.
Robert's adventurous spirit was as vast as the country he loved to explore. He achieved the remarkable feat of visiting all 50 states, and his passion for the open road was evident in his cross-country motorcycle rides through the 48 contiguous states on his Harley. Robert's mechanical prowess was well-known; he could work on and repair engines and virtually anything that required a tool.
Family was the cornerstone of Robert's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, April, who was his partner in every adventure and the love of his life. His legacy lives on through his sons, Joshua Dungan and wife, Alexis, Christopher Dungan and wife, Jazmyne; grandsons, Rowland and Erik, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Robert's memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Bert Dungan, Jr. and wife, Sondra, Richard Dungan, Vickie Dunn and husband, Larry, Penny Harper, Dorothy Jiles-McCarty and husband, Gary, and Shirley Keef. His mother-in-law, Connie Parker, and brothers-in-law, Raymond Parker and wife, Heather, Aaron Parker and wife, Katie, Justin Parker, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, too numerous other family member and many friends will remember Robert's larger-than-life presence and his unwavering support.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bertie Lee and Shirley Dungan, and his father-in-law, Bobby Parker, Robert leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the courage to embrace life's journey with open arms.
Robert's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and the pursuit of happiness. His story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him
