Robert George Durso, 85, of Cumming, GA passed away July 6, 2024, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and mentor – touching the lives of so many. Robert was born in Englewood, NJ to the late George and Ethel Durso. Robert was predeceased by his son, Scott Durso.
Mr. Durso is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Peggy) Durso; daughter, Debbie Durso-Bumpus and her husband, Scott Bumpus; daughter-in-law, Amy Durso; grandchildren, Owen Durso, Connor Durso; brother, Ron Durso and his wife Claire Durso, along with their children.
Bob embraced life, cherishing every moment spent with his family and friends. His passion for boating and summers on the lake were legendary, creating countless memories filled with laughter and fun. Many trips to their favorite islands, off the shores of Florida and the Caribbean, brought Bob, his family, and his beloved dogs immense happiness as well.
Beyond his love for the water, he had a deep affection for old muscle cars. He reveled in the challenge of fixing and building, turning engine bays into works of craftsmanship. His garage was a sanctuary where family and friends shared stories, but also accessed any possible tool they needed.
Throughout his distinguished career, he was more than just an accomplished engineer and manager; he was a mentor and coach to countless young talents. His guidance and wisdom shaped the careers of many aspiring engineers across the years. Whether seizing technical opportunities worldwide, or solving complex problems, he was a beacon of knowledge and inspiration, always willing to lend a helping hand and share his expertise.
Above all else, he was a devoted husband and family man. He cherished family gatherings, creating a sense of unity and love that will forever be treasured. In the hearts of all who knew him, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and generosity. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us to embrace our passions and to cherish those we hold dear.
