Robert Ray Featherstone, 94 of Matthews Glen, Matthews, NC passed away on July 24, 2025. Bob was born to Carl W. Featherstone and Mabel Falls Featherstone in Gastonia, NC on September 10, 1930. Bob graduated from Gastonia High School, Wake Forest College and received his Master's Degree from Winthrop College. He was an Eagle Scout and served three years in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps in Salzburg, Austria. He was a zone manager for Ford Motor Company, a Ford dealer in Lancaster, SC and was employed by the Lancaster County School District in the Vocational Education Department. Bob was a caring husband, father and grandfather who cherished hosting his family on holidays and summer vacations at his home on Lake Wateree. He was predeceased by his wife Celia T. Featherstone. Survivors include his daughter Melissa F. Fearrington and husband Jay, of Simsbury CT; his sons, Robert C. Featherstone and wife Renea, of Hickory, NC and Richard Ray Featherstone and wife Leslie of Greenville, SC; and nine grandchildren: Julia Fearrington of Sugar Hill, NH; Carr Fearrington of Simsbury, CT; Clark Featherstone of Charlotte, NC; Brett Featherstone of Charlotte, NC; Ellen F. Blakley of Charleston, SC; Cole Featherstone of Waxhaw, NC; Kate Featherstone of Charlotte, NC; Blake Featherstone of Hickory, NC; Mary Featherstone of Arlington, VA; and special friend Jane Harris of Matthews, NC. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 2:00 at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 N. Main Street, Lancaster, SC with visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 990, Lancaster, SC 29721. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Robert, please visit our Tree Store.
