Robert Louis "Bob Salts" Ferrara

Robert Louis "Bob" "Salts" Ferrara, 92, of Vandergrift, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Born June 7, 1933 in Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Sabatino Ferrara & Mary (Petrarca) Ferrara.
Bob was a graduate of Vandergrift High School, and proudly served our country with the United States Army. He was a skilled basketball player in his younger years, and continued to play at the gym to this day. Bob was the well-known window clerk at the US Post Office in Vandergrift for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church.
Bob also enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to the gym, reading, gardening, and going for walks. He most loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. (Raymond) Ferrara, who passed away on December 19, 2019; grandson, Stephen Shaner, who passed away in 2017; brothers, Louis & Dominic Ferrara; and his sisters, Sarah Jagodrinski & Eleanor Myer.
Bob is survived by his children, Deborah A. Little of Erie; son, David (Stephanie) Ferrara of Vandergrift; granddaughter, Ann (Thomas) Fabrizio of Erie; great-grandchildren, Nina Strickland, Gino Fabrizio; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, PA 15690, with Father Alan N. Polczynski as celebrant. Private interment in St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum, Vandergrift, at the convenience of the family.
