Robert "Bob" L. Fisher, age 90, passed away in the comfort of his family on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Bob was born February 21, 1935 to Arthur and Marie (Bourassa) Fisher. He was the sixth of fourteen children raised in the heart of Burlington. After his junior year of high school at Burlington Cathedral, Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., where he served until January 21, 1962, earning the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Bob was married to his wife of 56 years, Jane (Dubray) with whom he built their home and raised their two sons, as well as Bob's two older two children in the Town of Fairfax. Bob and Jane volunteered for many years with the Fairfax Rescue Squad and found civic service to be a very important part of life in rural Vermont.
Bob was an "original" employee of IBM, starting a long-time career for the microchip processing plant in Essex Junction. Thirty-five years after his start, Bob retired from "Big Blue", Bob did not stop working though, he continued with local employers native of Fairfax, such as Fairfax Salvage & Repair and Bellows Free Academy. Bob was handy with a wrench and built his family's home in Fairfax with the assistance of his friend, Victor St. Cyr.
Bob was a local bicycling enthusiast for years, often logging mileage around Fairfax and surrounding areas on his yellow 10-speed. Bob could also be spotted at Berardinelli's General Store, sitting at the end of the checkout that Jane manned for Frank and Betsy. Bob truly enjoyed visiting with the residents of his favorite little town, he considered many folks his friends. Bob enjoyed weekly visits with his pals Donald and Ginette Pigeon; playing pool with Donald each week up and until only a couple months before his passing.
Bob gave many years of faithful service to the St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Cambridge and had a frequent and welcoming presence while serving at their ham dinner and pie socials. He provided countless man hours to both rebuild and maintain the Church and Rectory.
Bob leaves behind his sons, Robert Jr. (Donna) of Puyallup, Washington, Roger (Melissa) Fisher and Dale (Lauri) Fisher of Fairfax, granddaughters Erin Sisson and Debbie Heblich and grandsons Jeremy Fisher, Robert Fisher,III, Sean Parizo, Ryan Parizo and Aidan Fisher.
Bob leaves behind his brothers John, David, Richard and sisters Katie, Jeanne, Patti, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his daughter Lianna (Lani), brother Joe and sisters Jackie, Janice, Marie, Cindy, Mary Lou, and Nancy.
The family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurse's Association and Bob's niece, Jayme Love, for the extraordinary care they gave Bob during his final chapter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friay May 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, Fairfax. Inurnment will follow in the family lot in Lamoille View Cemetery, Johnson.
