Robert E. "Bob" Fox, age 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born November 30, 1953, in Dover, he was the son of the late Charles Earl and Elizabeth (Maurer) Fox. Bob attended Dover High School where he played on the golf team and earned an impressive hole-in-one. He graduated in 1972 and went on to study at Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster in preparation for operating Fox Nursery in New Philadelphia, a family business founded by Bob's father in 1952. Bob married the former Linda M. Fazenbaker, who survives, on New Year's Eve, 1986.
Bob loved the outdoors, which fit his vocation well. He enjoyed the hard work of the nursery - planting, growing, trimming and finally digging the plants. The Fox Christmas tree lot on the corner of Third and Wabash was a fixture in New Philadelphia for 46 years. Bob also liked plowing snow in the winter in his big Ford truck, and, outside of work, he enjoyed waterskiing at Tappan Lake. A few people remember Bob racing go-carts as a young man.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda; his son, Jake (Andreina) Fox; his grandsons, Nolan and Brooks; his brother, Jim (Sally) Fox; his nieces and nephews; and his dog, Holly.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Fox.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Tuesday, January 28, 5 - 7 p.m. Services will be private with burial in Dover Burial Park.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions honoring Bob's memory be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd. N.E., or Ohio's Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., both addresses at New
Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
