Dwayne E. "Ed" Atkins, 63, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Born January 27, 1962, in Jamestown, Tennessee, Ed was the son of Ruby "Edna" Graves Sexton of Strasburg and the late Omer "Pap" Sexton. He was also preceded in death by his brother in law, John DeLong, and his beloved dog, Dallas.
Ed was a dedicated employee at Canton Drop Forge for 36 years. A true handyman, he could fix just about anything, he was mechanically inclined, and a talented welder.. Ed loved the outdoors, finding peace in fishing and shooting. Above all, he cherished moments with his family, especially his grandson.
He is survived by his sons, Justin (Kasie) Atkins of Canton and Brandon Atkins of Dover; brothers, Steve (Yvette) Atkins of Tennessee, Dan (Kristi) Atkins of Strasburg, and Scott Sexton of Canton; sisters, Regina Rummes of Uhrichsville and Suzi DeLong of Strasburg; grandson, Wyatt Shane Atkins; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Cremation has been entrusted to Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Friday, October 3rd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Franklin Terrace Community Center at 316 South Bodmer Ave. Strasburg.
