Robert Gilbert passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Eufaula, Alabama, on July 20, 1948, Robert spent his formative years in Alabama before making Sylvania, Georgia, his lifelong home.
Robert spent many joyful years as a cook at Walls Diner and at numerous other local restaurants.
Robert is survived by his daughter; Angie Bragg (Barney) of Sylvania, GA, and his special son, J.R. Tucker. He leaves behind a legacy through his cherished grandchildren: Stuart Dehoff, Thomas Dehoff (Caitlyn), and Kristen Dehoff; his great-grandchildren, Walker Doyle, Daniel Dehoff, Henry Dehoff, and Jack Dehoff.
He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse of 52 years, Barbara Lee; his parents, Robert Cecil Gilbert and Martha Gilbert; his sister, Martha Frances Woods; and his great-grandchild, Mathew Stuart Dehoff.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home, Joiner-Anderson Chapel and will be announced when arrangements are complete.
