Robert Alan Gilinson, age 77, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was the 2nd son of Philip J. Gilinson, Jr. and Hulda Einarsdottir. He was predeceased by his nephew Philip J. Gilinson IV (Britton). He graduated from Chelmsford High School with the Class of 1965. He went on to graduate from Clarkson University with the Class of 1969 with a degree in electrical engineering. Then he went on to work for Raytheon Company for the next 45 years. He worked mainly on the Aegis weapons system. He was proud to receive an Aegis excellence award from Admiral Wayne Meyer.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chelmsford. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends from Maine and Massachusetts. He loved to travel to St. Martin with his friends Dennis and Sheila, and he loved to travel to Iceland to visit his cousin Gunna and all of his Icelandic family. He loved Boston sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots.
Robert was very thankful for his circle of neighborhood friends. You know who you are.
Robert's family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Lowell General Hospital ICU, especially his nurse Heather Sullivan, for their kindness and wonderful care.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 4 pm – 6 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 170 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. The church service will be livestreamed at tlc-chelmsford.org/livestream. Kindly see a link below. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
