Robert Hughes Greer, 89, husband of the late Mary Martha Mauldin Greer, passed away July 22, 2024.
A native of Greenville County, South Carolina, son of the late James Jackson and Rucia Othello Hughes Greer, he was a United States Navy Veteran, graduate of Taylors High School, and retired from Carotell Paper Board after 32 years. Mr. Greer enjoyed gardening, baking, golf, fishing, shag dancing, playing cards, NASCAR racing, Clemson Tiger Football, and Shriners events.
Surviving are one daughter, Tammy Greer Evergetis (Mark) of Charleston, South Carolina; one brother, Joe Greer; and two sisters, Kay Gosnell and Ann Greer.
Mr. Greer was predeceased by one daughter, Mitzi Ann Greer; and one brother, Tom Greer.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at The Wood Mortuary.
A reception will be held after the graveside at Wild Ace Pizza and Pub, 103 Depot Street Greer, South Carolina 29651.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Veteran Affairs in Charleston, South Carolina. From the emergency room personnel who were outstanding and all the doctors, nurses, and hospice care coordinators who showed Mr. Greer kindness, respect, and most of all compassion. They never left his side for 9 days when he had to have around the clock care. From the bottom of their hearts, thank you.
