Robert Gusman Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Feb. 12, 2025.
SALEM - Robert P. Gusman, affectionately known to many as Bob or Gus, passed away on Saturday February 8, 2025, at the age of 83 in Humility House in Austintown. Born in Toledo, OH, on December 20, 1941, to the late George and Luella Gusman, Bob was a man whose life was defined by his devotion to his family, his passion for his work, and his love for music and sports.
A proud graduate of Salem High School's class of 1959, Bob furthered his education at Salem Trade Extension, where he graduated in 1963. He embarked on a successful career, dedicating 23 years as a detailer, designer, and checker with E.W. Bliss Manufacturing. Following their closing, Bob brought his expertise to East Ohio Machining, where he worked for another 16 and a half years until his well-deserved retirement.
Bob's professional life was a testament to his attention to detail and his commitment to excellence, qualities that were mirrored in his personal pursuits. A lifelong member of the First Friends Church in Salem, Bob's baritone enriched the church choir for many years. His love for harmony extended beyond the church walls as he performed with several Barbershop Quartets and lent his voice to the Salem Jubilee Choir for a quarter of a century.
His zest for life was palpable, whether he was cheering on his beloved Cleveland Browns, perfecting his swing on the golf course, scoring strikes at the bowling alley, or casting a line as an avid fisherman. Bob's love for games was not just a hobby but a cherished tradition, as he looked forward to the weekly Friday night game night and card games surrounded by his loved ones.
Bob's legacy is carried on by his devoted family: his daughter, Susan Fuese, and her husband Jim of Poland; his daughter, Lori Easley, and her husband Bill of Leetonia; his brother, Bill Gusman of Colorado; and the mother of his children, Carole Gusman. Though his son, Jeff Gusman, preceded him in death, Bob's spirit lives on in his five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will continue to be guided by his love and kindness.
Those who knew Bob will remember him as a loving and kind soul, a man whose generosity of spirit and warmth were felt by all who had the pleasure of his company. His laughter, his storytelling, and his unwavering support were the hallmarks of a life well-lived, a life filled with joy and commitment to the people and the community he held dear.
Bob Gusman's departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know him. As the curtain falls on a life that was harmonious and full of love, we bid a fond farewell to a man who was not just the heart and soul of his family but also a beacon of light in his community. Rest in peace, Bob. Your song will forever resonate in the lives you touched.
