Robert H. Hajec, 71, of Utica, died April 28, 2024 at Wynn Hospital.
He was born August 28, 1952 in Utica, son of the late John and Joan Hajec and graduated from UFA in 1970. Robert married Helen Smedovich on September 9, 1972.
Robert was the Chief Engineer at WUTR TV for many years.
He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Robert enjoyed anything that had to do with science, he followed NASA and was an avid train enthusiast. He enjoyed listening to the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac. He was a Mets and Islanders fan. He enjoyed the time spent taking his sons to hockey practices and their hockey games.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, his two sons James and Tim: his brothers Ron and Paul and an Aunt Olga Boshart. He was also predeceased by his grandparents who was especially close to, Henry and Cora Backus.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wynn Hospital for their excellent care.
Calling hours are on Saturday from 2-4 at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court at York Streets, Utica. A service will follow at 4 PM.

I knew Bob in high school at UFA. I was a senior and he was a freshman. We worked in the audiovisual department, showing movies and such. Bob was a hard worker and a really great guy. My condolences to his family.
