Bob Hall passed away on October 31, 2024. He was born on May 26, 1940 in Viborg, South Dakota to Rosie (Jensen) and George Hall. He was the 2nd of three sons, however, he most definitely was NOT the ‘invisible middle child’.

Bob was preceded in death by his father George Hall, his mother Rosie Glaser, step-father Harold Glaser and parents-in-law Geri and Irv Radden. He is survived by his wife Joyce Ann (Radden) Hall, brothers Allen ‘Buck‘ Hall and Ferris Hall, his sister Deborah Glaser and nieces Jaque McCord, Jenny Amundson, Gena Hult, Kristi Barger and Toni Allen.

Bob attended school in Wakonda, South Dakota where he gave nicknames to most, if not all, of his classmates. After graduating high school he served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1962. During a part of his service Bob was stationed in Alaska. Years later his wife suggested going on a cruise to Alaska, to which he promptly responded “No”.

Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bob moved to Omaha, Nebraska where his mother, step-father and half-sister were living. While in Omaha he also met his wife of 59 years, Joyce. She was the ‘girl next door’. At the time the Raddens and Glasers lived next door to each other.

He attended Omaha University (now University of Nebraska - Omaha) where he was Outstanding Student Teacher, graduating in 1968. Bob later attended Central Missouri State where he received a Master’s Degree in Safety Education.

In the 1970s Bob and Joyce moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Bob worked for the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. He then moved to the Arizona Department of Transportation where he was a technical trainer. One time at the State Capital Bob ran into then Governor, Rose Mofford. She admired his jacket and he asked if she would like to try it on. She said she would, upon which he took off the jacket and helped her into it. She commented that she liked the material and returned it to him.

Bob and Joyce moved to Peoria in 1996, and except for a move to Denver, Colorado for 4 years in order for Bob to implement the driver education program that he created, they remained in the Valley of the Sun. They returned to Peoria from Denver in 2018.

Bob will be missed by his family, many friends, work colleagues, pool buddies and his coffee klatch group. No funeral service is planned but we will be organizing a Celebration of Life get together sometime in February. Time and place to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Valley — https://www.hov.org/donate/. We are very grateful for the care that Bob received at Hospice of the Valley —Thunderbird Inpatient Care Home and, before the move there, at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center.
