Robert V. "Bobby" Hall, Jr.
(retired SJCFR Fire Chief)
1958 – 2025
Robert V. "Bobby" Hall, Jr., age 67, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on July 15, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, with his family at his side. He was born in St. Augustine, the beloved son of the late Robert V. and Grace Hall.
Chief Hall dedicated his life to public service, culminating in a distinguished career in fire rescue that spanned more than 30 years. He served as Fire Chief of St. Johns County Fire Rescue from 2001 until his retirement in 2011. One of the first licensed paramedics in the State of Florida, Chief Hall was instrumental in shaping the foundation of the professional fire department that proudly serves the community today.
Under his leadership, Fire Rescue evolved from a small, career-based system supplemented by volunteers into a full-service, professional department. During his tenure, the department opened multiple new stations, transitioned 14 volunteer stations to full-time staffing, and hired over 150 operations personnel to meet the demands of a rapidly growing county.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Anastasia Baptist Church, with Rev. Kelly Kemp officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, with honors presented by St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations be made in Chief Hall's memory to one of his favorite causes:
Community Hospice and Palliative Care
4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257
or
SJC Fire Rescue Cadet Post 343
Attn: Chief Stephanie Whaley
3657 Gaines Rd., St. Augustine, FL 32084
Bobby is survived by his brother and sister in law Mark and Mary Hall; sisters, Pam Jenkins and Shelley Hall; and several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
His legacy of service, leadership, and compassion will continue to live on in the many lives he touched and the department he helped build.
