Robert (Bob) D. Halver earned his angel wings on 1.19.2026. He passed away peacefully with his daughter Terri and grandchildren Michael, Abby, and April by his side. He endured a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson's disease.
Bob was born in Shakopee and raised in
Chaska, MN. He graduated from Chaska High School in 1967 and was always noted to be a "car guy." After High School, Bob attended Dunwoody Institute, where he continued his lifelong passion for cars through auto mechanics. He enjoyed a fulfilling career in the auto industry until his retirement.
Bob married the love of his life Bonnie Halver, on January 19th, 1973 and continued to raise his family in
Prior Lake, MN. Bob was never late and always thinking of others, especially Bonnie, who he spoiled with perfumes, jewelry, flowers and a loving, gentle spirit. So, it is no surprise he passed on this date, their 53rd wedding anniversary, to get back to his one true love, Bonnie, who passed 9 months prior.
In retirement, Bob and Bonnie settled in
Grand Rapids, MN, where he spent countless hours fishing-crappies and walleyes were his favorites. Bob's patience shone through as he taught his daughters and grandchildren to fish, always ready to bait hooks and remove the catch.
Bob was a man of many talents and interests. He loved restoring his beloved '59 Ford Galaxie from bare bones to finished product of perfection, collecting Lionel trains, coins, Airex fly rods, reels and lures, polishing rocks, organizing his mini hardware store (his converted Mille Lacs Lake fish house), playing cards (500 and Blackjack), dancing, studying history, and building model ships for his grandchildren. He was also the author of two books ("AIREX A Collector's Guide to Bache Brown & Airex/Lionel Fishing Tackle" and "Bache Hamilton Brown The Father of Spin Fishing in America"), a reflection of both his curiosity and his desire to preserve and share what he had learned.
More than the hobbies themselves, Bob found his greatest joy in sharing them. Whether teaching others how to fish, gifting handmade creations, organizing scavenger hunts and homemade games for children, or writing books to pass along his knowledge, Bob delighted in teaching, encouraging curiosity, and bringing people together. His creativity, generosity, and willingness to share were truly endless.
He is survived by his daughters-Terri (Brian), Lynn, and Kris; grandchildren-Abby (John), April, and Michael (Amanda); ten great-grandchildren-Gavin, Jackson, Coen, Gabrielle, Carson, Harrison, William, Sophia, Isabella, and Stella; and a great-grandson expected in two weeks; God's grand circle of life. Bob also leaves behind brothers-in-law Rick and Greg (Kris), sisters-in-law Jan and Diane (Mike), and many nieces and nephews.
Bob will be remembered for his love of family, his playful spirit, and the joy he brought to every gathering. Our worlds could not have been more blessed with Bob, Dad, Grandpa, Brother in law, uncle, friend, in it.
Bob had requested no formal service, wishing instead for those who loved him to remember him as a patient, kind, hardworking, generous man with endless talents and passions. He was truly a one-of-a-kind GOOD man and will be deeply missed.
