Robert Hampson, 83, passed away January 23, 2026. He was born on May 9, 1942, in Streator, IL. He grew up in Grande Ridge, IL, lived in Washington, IL for over 40 years, then moved to Jacksonville, FL with his wife, Alice, in 2004.
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. During that time he was deployed to Homestead, FL in support of the Cuban Missile Crisis. After the Air Force, Robert started working at Caterpillar Tractor Company while running his own barbershop. Robert worked as a maintenance supervisor at Caterpillar for 38 years, retiring in 2001. His greatest joy was golfing regularly, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Jon) Swanson; sons, Steve, Ted (Heather), and Jeff (Frances); grandchildren, Brian, Katie, Julie, Rory, Taylor, Thomas, Joseph, Lilly, Logan, and Archer; great-grand child, Nora Alice; brother Gene (Peg) Hampson; sister, Diane (Ken) Nikels. Robert is predeceased by his beloved wife Alice (2014).
A visitation will held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Quinn Shalz Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 2, 2026 in St. Paul's Catholic Church followed by burial at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to continue celebrating Robert's Life after the burial with refreshments provided. Details will be provided after Mass.
