Robert Lane Harrell, Jr., 70, of Osyka, died September 20, 2024, as the result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
Mr. Harrell was born April 6, 1954, at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, the first child of Robert Lane Harrell, Sr. and Claudie Mae Harrell. He graduated from Kentwood High School in 1972. Inspired to learn more about his faith, he enrolled in the Liberty Home Bible Institute and received a Diploma in Biblical Studies in 1988. Mr. Harrell had a variety of jobs through the years. He worked offshore, in the steel industry, as a high school basketball coach, pastor, plant manager, and truck driver. He proudly served in law enforcement with the St. Tammany Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's offices and as the Chief of Police in Osyka, Mississippi. He held a deep love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He looked forward to golf with his sons and time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lifelong, devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, much to his family's chagrin.
Mr. Harrell is survived by his sons and their wives: Robert (III) and Ezel Harrell of John's Island, SC, Charles and Danielle Harrell of Tylertown, MS, and Joseph and Marie Harrell of Osyka, MS; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and his brother Hansel Harrell and sister
Rachel Harrell.
Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his parents Robert, Sr. and Claudie Mae; his son Matthew; and his daughter Krisi.

So sorry for the passing of Coach Harrell, the name I always used for him. Although the time I knew him was brief he was so kind and welcoming to me and always challenged me to be better. May God Be gracious to his family during this time of grief.
