Robert Louis “Bob” Hasty, age 69, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born December 24, 1953, in Tuscumbia, Missouri, the son of Robert Jarold and Grace Emma (Martin) Hasty.
Bob was a 1971 graduate of Eldon High School and a 1975 graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
He was united in marriage on September 5, 1981, in Eldon to Renée Marie VanStrien who survives at the home.
Bob worked for over 39 years with the United States Postal Service as a clerk retiring August 26, 2022. He previously worked for the City of Jefferson with Planning & Code Enforcement, Verslues Surveying, Harms Surveying, and Fasco.
He possessed a strong faith and was a member of Capital City Christian Church, accepting Jesus as his savior at a young age. He was also a member of the Christopher Casey Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Bob played tennis for over 50 years, participating in the Show-Me State Games frequently and “family tennis days” with his children and wife. He also was an avid chess and Solitaire player and enjoyed chess competitions with his children over the holidays.
Bob was most proud of his children and family. He was a strong listener, kind and patient friend, critical thinker and had a playful sense of humor. He enjoyed late night conversations at family get-togethers about politics, religion, the economy and more. His smile, joyous laugh and patient heart will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Renée Hasty, Jefferson City; three children, Eric (Ashley) Hasty, Chicago, IL; Elise (Sergio) Bibriescas, San Jose, CA; Evan (Joelle) Hasty, Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Gael Bibriescas, Miles Hasty, Jack Hasty; and three siblings, Greg (Lyn) Hasty, Camdenton, MO; Gordon Hasty, Gravois Mills, MO; and Nancy Calton, Folsom, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Emma Nicole Hasty.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 Noon Monday, November 20, 2023, at Capital City Christian Church in Jefferson City. A funeral service will follow at Noon with Pastor Frank Goehringer officiating.
Graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Eldon City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Capital City Christian Church.
