Robert Wayne Highfield, 67, passed away on March 31, 2025 in his home in Snyder, Texas. A funeral service will be held at Bell-Cypert-Seale in Snyder on Sunday, April, 2025 at 2:00 PM. There will be a graveside following the service at Snyder Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Son of Vina Mae Franklin and Robert Eugene Highfield, he was born on February 11, 1958 in Cartersville, Georgia.
Despite education being important to him, immediately upon finding out he was going to be a father, Wayne quit high school and went to work in the oil field. He loved his oil field career which consisted of various positions for many years. Wayne could run a rig in his sleep even to this day. Many years later, he completed his GED and joined the City of Snyder's Water Department where he retired after 18 and 1/2 years. By many, he was known as the friendly water meter reader on the 4 wheeler. He enjoyed zooming through the alleyways and visiting with the customers. Wayne spent many years sharing the word of God as he was invited to preach at various churches and events. Denomination did not matter to him because it was his belief God was God no matter the religion. One thing is for sure, Wayne loved the Lord. Some of his all time favorite hobbies consisted of riding horses, working on small engines, learning to play the guitar, writing Christian music, site seeing, and preaching the word of God. Above all things, Wayne loved his God and his family!
During high school, Wayne met and married Janet Ann Melton in April of 1976. Together, they had 3 children: Sherry, Jason, and Daniel. The two of them were blessed to celebrate 39 years of marriage. In June 2018, Wayne married Kathy Posey Reynolds.
Wayne Highfield was preceded to heaven by his mother, Vina Mae Franklin, in 1986, his father Robert Eugene Highfield in 2024, his first wife Janet Ann Highfield in 2015, his second wife Katherine Posey Highfield in 2021, and two grandchildren, Caitlin Joy Green and Christopher Aiden Green in 2005.
He is survived by his daughter Sherry and her husband Paul Faulkenbery of Snyder, and two sons Jason Highfield of Snyder, and Daniel Highfield and his wife Jeana of Rotan. Wayne Highfield was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Bailey Faulkenbery, Austin Faulkenbery, Krista Faulkenbery, and Eric, Carter, Jonathan, Whitney, Ashton, McKenzie, and Aiden Highfield; His brother Albert Highfield and his wife Vicki of Canyon Lake, sister Tammy Castro and husband Nick of Levelland, sister Carol Hutchinson and husband Brody of Levelland, sister Ruby Highfield of Snyder, sister Paula Martinez and husband Joe of Snyder, and brother Gerald Highfield and wife Kay of Alabama.
A visitation will be held from 6-7:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Bell-Cypert-Seale.
