Kent grew up in Daleville, Alabama, graduated from Daleville High in 1983, and lettered in football. He went on to attend Troy State University and graduated with a bachelors degree. Kent joined the Army National Guard and retired as staff Sergeant after 20 years of service. During his military career, he traveled to Germany and Panama. He has previously worked at Sanders Lead Company and was currently employed by the City of Troy. He was a devoted member of Old Lebanon Baptist Church.
Kent enjoyed being outdoors and provided lawn care for several folks across the city. He loved watching animals in nature and was always up for some hunting. He loved cooking for his family, grilling out, and watching cooking shows with his mother. Kent was a friendly soul who never met a stranger. A kind and gentle person, the world is a better place because he was here. Kent left a mark on everyone he came in contact with because he loved taking care of people. We will always love him and we will miss him dearly.
Loving survivors include his wife, Audrey Hodge; children, Chris Hodge (Julie), Halee Burdick (Shalon); his mother, Shirley Hodge; grandchildren, Daniel Burdick, Peyton Hodge, Charli Hodge, Ella Hodge, Brooks Hodge; brother, Andy Hodge (Melinda); sister, Robbie Brookshire (Bryan); sister-in-law, Melody Wilburn; brother-in-law, Lewis “Buddy” Wilburn; as well as several nieces and nephews.
