Robert E. Humphreys III, of Owensboro, passed away on April 23, 2025 while under the care of hospice. Bob was born on August 22, 1944 to the late Robert Humphreys, Jr. and Anna Gabbert Humphreys. He was a graduate of Owensboro High School and went on to attend Tampa University where he earned a business degree. While at Tampa University he held a recruiter position for his business fraternity. He went on to work as a sales representative for USG in Nashville, TN and also owned a home rental company in Nashville.
Bob found pleasure playing music on his guitar and attending symphony performances at the River Park Center. He enjoyed strolls along the Ohio riverfront and listened to various music venues. It was gratifying for him to do research on various topics at the public library each day. Part of his daily routine was walking laps at the public parks in town or going to Planet Fitness. Bob found it interesting to travel and learn the history of unknown places. He also had a great sense of humor and entertained his friends with lots of laughter and camaraderie. He was always willing to lend a hand to his friends when it was needed. Bob also was a car and motorcycle enthusiast. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro. He had a fondness for dogs, especially his dog, Dragnet.
Bob demonstrated courage and commitment to all who were privileged to know him.
Survivors include his sister, Rebecca Rayburn; two nieces, Jane Rayburn and Katie Rayburn; and his companion of 21 years, Sherry Cozart.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, May 2, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory with burial following the service at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025 and from 10:00am until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
